„Same procedure as every year”
In a long-standing Langley Holdings festive tradition, around 700 employees at Manroland – the group’s German printing press builder – were delighted to receive fresh Christmas turkeys courtesy of founder and chairman Mr Anthony Langley, who visited the company last week, accompanied by son and main board member, Bernard Langley.
While the image of Messrs Langley personally handing out turkeys would surely have been heartwarming, not to mention unexpected, the challenge of spreading holiday cheer to more than 90 subsidiaries and over 5,000 employees worldwide is no poultry task.
The process starts in July when the enigmatic Chairman is asked – rather like Miss Sophie in the perennial British stage comedy Dinner for One – „Same procedure as last year Mr Langley?” To which he invariably replies – „Same procedure as every year!”
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!
